Interview with Aziliz LEDOUX, BtoB Marketing Project Manager at Nhood

THE TRANSFORMATION OF COMMERCIAL SPACES IS THE THEME CHOSEN FOR OUR EDITION 24 OF SIEC: HOW DOES THIS TRANSLATE WITHIN YOUR COMPANY?

The current environmental and social climate has given rise to new challenges, and there is an urgent need to rethink the way we consume and develop projects. That's why, as a real estate services provider, Nhood has a responsibility to transform the commercial zones it manages. How do we do this?

  • By rethinking the mixed-use offering of the locations we manage - By continually anticipating the challenges of the territories and their inhabitants - By transforming assets, regenerating, renovating and rehabilitating them
  • By developing specialty leasing and ephemeral commerce - By developing local roots and synergies with local players - By building and developing tomorrow's commerce through innovative solutions
  • By welcoming and supporting new players in these redesigned retail spaces.

Our team of experts imagines and implements innovative solutions to make our customers' real estate assets bear fruit. As an urban regenerator, Nhood creates unique, pleasant and attractive “places for the better”, in which retail and mixed-use play a central role for the benefit of all.

Founded in 2021 and operating in Europe and West Africa, Nhood is currently developing some 30 urban regeneration projects and managing over 900 locations for its customers. It brings together the skills of over 1,000 experts covering the entire real estate value chain: asset management, shopping center operations, development and promotion. The Nhooders are developing a “site vision” approach combining proximity, foresight and creativity, to project the future of their sites and meet the new challenges facing the region.

Owned by the Mulliez Family Association, Nhood draws its strength from its retail DNA and local roots. In fact, this is the origin of its name: Nhood is a contraction of “neighborhood”, which defines its ambition and commitment.

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US AN INNOVATION/INITIATIVE OR NEWS ITEM THAT YOU FOUND INTERESTING/SURPRISING IN OUR SECTORS?

In September 2023, a call for applications was launched by the government as part of the “Plan de transformation des zones commerciales - Entrée de ville”.

On this occasion, Nhood mobilized alongside local authorities and players who wished to participate in this Call for Expressions of Interest (A.M.I). A great opportunity to fully express our raison d'être in the service of the elected representatives, territories and owners who place their trust in us, and to promote the issues that are dear to us: renaturation, mixed use and social diversity, the “open” concept, etc. New this year, Nhood is giving SSE players wishing to deploy their concepts in other regions or on other sites the chance to submit an “open” application. It's up to the imagination and innovation! of conditions for a virtuous economy on a local scale, the development of low-carbon mobility... A future where these commercial zones will be drivers of sustainability, social cohesion and economic prosperity.

On March 29, Olivia Grégoire, Minister for Business, Tourism and Consumer Affairs, Christophe Béchu, Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, and Guillaume Kasbarian, Minister for Housing, announced the first 74 winners.

Nhood is proud to see 11 community projects selected, to which our teams are fully committed!

WHAT'S NEW WITH YOUR COMPANY?

For the second year running, Nhood Services France is launching its “AccESS” competition, an innovative initiative to support and finance positive-impact projects by opening the doors of the shopping centers it manages on behalf of its owner-clients.

Derived from the English word “access” and the contraction of “acceleration” and “SSE”, the aim of this competition is to help entrepreneurs from the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) to develop their activities by giving them access to the shopping malls, thus creating a real gas pedal for their business! The prize for the winners is:

  • A permanent location in the heart of a shopping mall
  • 0€ rent for the first year, renewable (only a fixed charge remains to be paid
  • Financial assistance to set up - Operational support from Nhood teams
  • Business boosted by shopping center traffic

The competition also offers numerous advantages for all stakeholders.

For the customers of the shopping centers involved, it means a more mixed and responsible offer that responds to new consumption patterns, as well as additional and unprecedented services in their place of shopping.

For their part, shopping center owners will benefit from increased customer flow, greater customer satisfaction, improved brand awareness thanks to a more responsible offer, and the development of their local roots through strong collaborations with SSE players.

After the first edition of the competition in 2023, when three shopping centers in Hauts-de-France (Aushopping Amiens Sud, Aushopping Faches and Aushopping V2) opened their doors to this innovation, in 2024, five other shopping centers with high flow potential located in three regions are partners in this second edition: Aushopping Porte de Lyon, Aushopping Grand Plaisir, Aushopping Brétigny, Aushopping Côté Seyne and Aushopping Marseille St Loup. The AccESS competition will award prizes to 5 projects in a choice of three themes:

  • Responsible consumption
  • Professional integration and employment
  • Learning places

New this year, Nhood is giving SSE players wishing to roll out their concepts in other regions or on other sites the opportunity to submit an “open” application. Let your imagination and innovation run wild!

Applications for the AccESS competition open from April 15 to May 20, 2024 at https://makesense-nhood-access.makesense.org/
